Oregon Foundation Experts Host Helical Systems Class At American General Contractors University
Roseburg, OR – TerraFirma Foundation Repair is a local foundation company whose experts are constantly involving themselves in the community. On February 16, 2011, Commercial Project Manager, Dan Holborow, will be co-hosting an introductory class about helical foundation systems. The class is being held at the American General Contractors University (AGC) from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Though free for AGC members, there is a $25 fee for non-members to attend the class. This introductory helical class has a focus on technology, is level 101 and worth 1 hour CEUs.
Attendees will learn about helical piers, tiebacks, typical applications, load testing, determining capacity, and understanding code standards. All project engineers/managers, estimators, and purchasing managers of general contractors are encouraged to attend.
About the Presenters:
Dan Holborow is a certified basement and foundation repair expert. He has received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Oregon State University with an emphasis in construction engineering management. In addition, he has furthered his education with certifications in construction materials testing and inspection through the American Concrete Institute and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Holborow is also active in the Jackson County and Umpqua Valley Home Builder’s associations, and serves on the Roseburg Urban Sanitary Authority Budget Committee.
Jeff Kortan, P.E., director of engineering at the internationally renowned Foundation Supportworks network, has an extensive educational background having received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from South Dakota State University in 1993 and his Master of Science degree in engineering in 1995. He's a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI).
