    Foundation Repair Bainbridge Island

Foundation issues can lead to significant damage to your home if not taken care of. If you notice floor cracks, bowing walls, or sagging floors, it’s likely a sign of deeper structural problems. Residents of Bainbridge Island, WA, might experience doors that stick, windows that won’t close properly, or gaps appearing between walls and ceilings—all of which could indicate that your foundation is shifting due to soil movement, water damage, or the natural aging process of your home.

At TerraFirma, we specialize in foundation repairs right here on Bainbridge Island. Our expert team provides targeted solutions designed specifically for the unique challenges your foundation may face. We start with a thorough inspection to pinpoint the source and extent of the issue, and then we recommend one or more of our effective foundation repair systems tailored just for you.

    Foundation piers

Our push and helical piers are designed to effectively stabilize and lift your foundation by transferring its weight to deeper, more stable soil. Helical piers work best in areas with known soil conditions, while push piers are perfect for regions where soil stability may be uncertain. Both systems are minimally invasive and provide lasting solutions for your home on Bainbridge Island.

    Wall Stabilization Systems

For cracked, bowing, or leaning walls, we offer a suite of reinforcement products. These include:

    • CarbonArmor®: Made from fiber-reinforced polymers ten times stronger than steel.
    • PowerBrace®: Zinc-plated steel beams that can be tightened over time.
    • GeoLock® Anchors and Helical Tiebacks: These systems halt inward movement and gradually straighten walls over time.
    • EverBrace™: Designed for severely deteriorated walls, this system replaces and reinforces failing foundation walls with steel supports.

We also offer grouted micropile tiebacks for difficult soil conditions, SmartJack® crawl space support posts for sagging floors, and vapor barriers to manage humidity and prevent further moisture damage.

Every solution comes with expert installation, options for ongoing maintenance, and transferable warranties, ensuring you feel confident and at ease in your Bainbridge Island home.

    Basement Waterproofing Bainbridge Island

On Bainbridge Island, a wet basement can result in mold, mildew, structural issues, and poor air quality in your home. You might notice signs of water intrusion like musty odors, stained walls, puddles, or efflorescence—a white, powdery material left behind as water evaporates. Even a tiny crack in your basement wall can open the door to unwanted moisture.

TerraFirma provides top-notch basement waterproofing solutions right here in Bainbridge Island, ensuring your space stays dry, healthy, and functional—come rain or shine.

We create tailored drainage systems designed to redirect water away from your basement and into sump pumps, safeguarding your foundation here in Bainbridge Island.

WaterGuard®: Our most popular system, it’s installed below the floor slab and above the footing to prevent clogging.
DryTrak®: Ideal for monolithic foundations where jackhammering is not feasible.
FlowGuard®: A thin-floor drain system used in basements with thin concrete slabs.
TrenchLock™ Inserts: Block ground air from entering while allowing water to drain.

We offer several sump pump options tailored to your water exposure:

TripleSafe™: Three-pump system for maximum protection, including battery backup for power outages.
UltraSump®: High-capacity battery backup pump that activates when the main pump fails or power goes out.
SuperSump®: A single-pump system for homes with minor water issues.

VaporLoc Elite: A heavy-duty wall liner that stops moisture and mold while directing water into drainage systems.
SaniDry Sedona & XP: Energy-efficient dehumidifiers that remove up to 109 pints of moisture daily, improving air quality and comfort.

Our SunHouse™ Window Wells and WellDuct® Drains keep your basement bright, dry, and free from debris, while meeting egress codes for safety.

Waterproofing in Bainbridge Island, WA not only safeguards your investment, but it also turns your basement into a safe, functional extension of your home.

    Earthquake Retrofitting Bainbridge Island, WA

Bainbridge Island is part of the Pacific Northwest, which is known for its seismic activity. Homes constructed before the updated building codes of the 1990s are particularly at risk. Even a small earthquake can lead to a home shifting off its foundation or suffering serious structural damage.

TerraFirma’s earthquake retrofitting services help secure your Bainbridge Island home to its foundation and strengthen its ability to withstand seismic events.

Retrofitting your home for earthquakes in Bainbridge Island not only enhances safety but can also help lower your insurance premiums and deductibles, and even open the door to coverage options that weren’t available before.

    How We Retrofit

    Assessment & Planning

The retrofitting process starts with a thorough assessment of your building’s current condition. A qualified expert, like a structural engineer or a trained technician, will inspect your home to pinpoint any weaknesses and suggest the best solutions for your needs.

This assessment involves inspecting the foundation, walls, roof, and overall structure. Following that, our engineer will create a detailed retrofitting plan tailored to the findings.

    Foundation Bolting

Securing the foundation is the next important step. Our technicians install anchor bolts to firmly connect your home to its foundation, helping to prevent any shifting during an earthquake, especially for those of us here on Bainbridge Island.

Our process includes carefully drilling into the foundation and installing sturdy steel bolts. Our team then tightens these bolts to reinforce the structure, boosting its stability and resilience against seismic activity.

    Adding Shear Walls

Shear walls play a vital role in earthquake retrofitting on Bainbridge Island, helping to distribute seismic forces and keeping buildings safe from collapse.

Shear walls are usually made from sturdy materials like plywood and are installed in key areas of your home, especially in cripple walls. These walls enhance support and stability, helping to minimize the risk of damage during an earthquake.

    Bracing & Reinforcing

Next, our team will strengthen key areas of your home on Bainbridge Island using durable steel braces and straps. These are carefully installed on essential structural components like the roof, walls, and floors. This crucial step enhances your home’s overall stability, providing a robust framework designed to withstand seismic forces.

    Securing Applicances

Securing your appliances helps create a safer living environment for everyone on Bainbridge Island. It’s crucial to anchor items like water heaters and refrigerators. Our technicians will also install safeguards for gas meters to reduce the risk of gas leaks.

    Reparing Foundations

During retrofitting, technicians may notice substantial foundation damage that needs immediate repair. Adding crawl space support posts and foundation piers, and stabilizing the walls are some of the ways TerraFirma can reinforce your foundation.

I used Terrafirma for foundation support repair. I found the staff and work crew very honest and extremely thorough! Was a little outside my budget, but I was so happy that I chose them! Satisfaction in every area is so worth it!!
Will choose them over and over and refer!

Quoted me $80k for proprietary solutions to some problems I do have, and some I don’t actually have. Took a bunch of pictures, showed them to me, but conveniently never sent them to me and thought it was weird I asked for the proposals to be emailed to me.

I decided to get a few other opinions and boy am I glad I did. Lying to me is one thing, but doubling down on the phone when you call me to ask if I’ve had time to consider scheduling the work is another.

I vote with my wallet and I have zero respect for a company that uses scare tactics or attempts to fudge the truth when they think the consumer isn’t educated enough on the subject to put two and two together.

Being a homeowner is hard and expensive enough… but then you have to navigate whether or not someone is trying to help you or empty your wallet for commission. This was arguably a worse experience than being a woman at the car dealership. No, I am not interested in purchasing blinker fluid…

Edit: With a continuous improvement mindset, I do appreciate someone at Terra Firma reaching out to me directly to understand the details of my experience so they could work to resolve internally.
Five stars aren't enough. We had a sizable project on an old house in tight quarters with neighbors who were concerned. We knew going into our project that there was going to be a lot of guesswork in the planning, and that whomever we hired for the project would have to make changes on the fly. The planning team was very clear about what they knew, and what they were inferring based on their experience and what they might discover when they started excavating.

They presented us with us a few different proposals with breakdowns of the cost and a list of the pros and cons of every plan, answering all of our questions before we finalized our choice.

The whole team at Terra Firma was incredible throughout; clear, consistent communication about the progress on the project and how it evolved as the plans encountered reality. It was a job well done with consistent care and extra effort. Whether it was the on-site team or the office staff supporting the project, everyone was a genuine pleasure to work with.
Great expedience, very knowledgeable and helpful .
Initial inspection and determination person was a very good listener and made good suggestions. The work was performed by an excellent technician with good experience. He explained the process and gave helpful advice. Great value for the money.
I had a very positive and honest conversation with Bailey regarding leveling my front walkway. He performed a thorough inspection and explained the outcome of the inspection and the method of treatment. Ask for Bailey!
Had a great experience with Derek Ryan…very knowledgeable, professional and explained everything to our satisfaction. He also provided follow up support, which was much appreciated!
We had a good experience with Terra Firma. We had 6 different estimates and went with their company because they did not try to sell us on something we didn’t need. After reviewing all the estimates, and talking to Bailey, the system design specialist, we realized that we did not need our foundation lifted to fix our sinking kitchen floor but instead, we needed stabilizing and lifting of the floor joist under our kitchen. TerraFirma also installed a new beam in our family room and lifted our settled concrete in our front walkway. They also buried a downspout which was draining into our front yard next to our walkway.

Every Terra Firma employee who came to our house; Bailey, Jorge, Robert and the rest of their team, were on-time, polite and did their job efficiently. They answered our questions, kept us updated on the work they were doing and cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely recommend this company.
Seth, awesome job on lifting my garage floor… it’s been a few months now and everything is looking great. Would recommend Seth on any job site, his professionalism and expertise can’t be ignored… Thanks James
Sam was able to provide an excellent inspection and honest report of my crawlspace waterproofing needs. Didn’t feel rushed or pressured. Was able to educate me to better understand the issues and risks. Thank you so much Sam
