It All Started With a Problem

In 2005, our founder Ryan Beckley purchased his first home—an attractive property in a great neighborhood, listed far below market value. It didn’t take long to find out why: a serious foundation settlement issue. For most buyers, this would have been a deal breaker. For Ryan, it was the start of something much bigger.

With deep roots in Oregon and a family history in construction, excavation, and resource management, Ryan took the challenge head-on. He dove into the world of deep foundation repair, determined to solve the problem himself. What he discovered was that countless homeowners in the Pacific Northwest were facing the same challenges, and no one was offering the kind of permanent, professional solution they needed.

And so, TerraFirma was born.

Built on a Legacy of Hard Work

Ryan isn’t just a business owner—he’s a sixth-generation Oregonian and a third-generation entrepreneur in the construction trades. Raised on a sheep, cattle, and horse ranch just north of Roseburg, he grew up working alongside his family, including his grandfather Phil Beckley, who co-founded one of the largest rock production firms in Southern Oregon. Ryan’s father, Tom Beckley, followed suit by founding a road-building business after serving in Vietnam.

Ryan started his first company, Beckley Excavation and Utility, at just 24 years old. His success in excavation led to ventures in quarrying, real estate, and ultimately, structural repair—laying the foundation (quite literally) for TerraFirma.

From Roseburg to Portland to Tacoma

TerraFirma began in Roseburg, solving foundational problems one home at a time. As demand grew and our reputation spread, we opened an office in Portland, followed by an expansion into Tacoma, Washington. With each move, our commitment to providing industry-leading solutions only deepened.

Today, we have the largest and best-trained team in the region, and we’re proud to offer top-of-the-line repair systems through our long-standing partnership with Supportworks, a leader in foundation and concrete technology. What We’ve Accomplished

Over the past two decades, we’ve:

• Stabilized thousands of foundations in Oregon and Washington.
• Waterproofed basements and eliminated the musty smells and mold that come with Pacific Northwest moisture.
• Transformed crawl spaces into clean, energy-efficient areas.
• Lifted and repaired concrete across countless sidewalks, driveways, and patios.
• Prepared homes for earthquakes, keeping families safer in seismically active zones.

We’ve also built something just as important: a strong, values-driven team.

A Celebration for the Whole Team 🎉

On Friday, May 30, over 150 TerraFirma employees gathered in downtown Portland to celebrate this incredible milestone. We enjoyed an evening filled with:

• Food trucks
• Dancing
• Open bars
• A raffle full of prizes

It was a night to remember—and a chance to say thank you to the people who’ve made TerraFirma what it is today.

From the office to the field, our success is built on the hard work, skill, and dedication of every single employee. We truly love our team, and we’re honored to work alongside such passionate, talented individuals every day.
