    Foundation Repair Newport

Foundation issues can lead to significant damage to your home if not taken care of. In Newport, OR, homeowners may notice signs like cracks in the floor, bowing walls, or sagging floors, which often indicate more serious structural problems. You might also experience doors that stick, windows that don’t close properly, or visible gaps between walls and ceilings. These issues can be warning signs that your foundation is shifting due to soil movement, water damage, or natural aging.

At TerraFirma, we specialize in foundation repairs in Newport with expert solutions designed specifically for the unique challenges of your home’s foundation. Our process starts with a thorough inspection to identify the root cause of any issues. From there, we’ll recommend the best foundation repair systems to effectively address your needs:

    Foundation piers

Our push and helical piers are designed to stabilize and lift your foundation by transferring its weight to deeper, more stable soil conditions. Helical piers are great for areas with known soil types, while push piers are the best choice for locations with uncertain soil stability. Both systems are minimally invasive and provide lasting solutions for your foundation needs right here in Newport, OR.

    Wall Stabilization Systems

For cracked, bowing, or leaning walls, we offer a suite of reinforcement products. These include:

    • CarbonArmor®: Made from fiber-reinforced polymers ten times stronger than steel.
    • PowerBrace®: Zinc-plated steel beams that can be tightened over time.
    • GeoLock® Anchors and Helical Tiebacks: These systems halt inward movement and gradually straighten walls over time.
    • EverBrace™: Designed for severely deteriorated walls, this system replaces and reinforces failing foundation walls with steel supports.

We also offer grouted micropile tiebacks for difficult soil conditions, SmartJack® crawl space support posts for sagging floors, and vapor barriers to manage humidity and prevent further moisture damage.

Each solution comes with professional installation, ongoing maintenance options, and transferable warranties, ensuring you feel confident and secure in your Newport home.

    Basement Waterproofing Newport

Dealing with a wet basement in Newport, OR? It can bring serious issues like mold, mildew, structural damage, and poor air quality into your home. You might notice musty smells, stained walls, water pooling, or efflorescence—a white, powdery substance that appears when water evaporates. Even a tiny crack in your basement wall can turn into a significant entry point for moisture.

TerraFirma provides cutting-edge basement waterproofing solutions in Newport, ensuring your space stays dry, healthy, and functional no matter what Mother Nature throws your way.

We create custom drainage systems that efficiently channel water away from your basement and into sump pumps, safeguarding your foundation.

WaterGuard®: Our most popular system, it’s installed below the floor slab and above the footing to prevent clogging.
DryTrak®: Ideal for monolithic foundations where jackhammering is not feasible.
FlowGuard®: A thin-floor drain system used in basements with thin concrete slabs.
TrenchLock™ Inserts: Block ground air from entering while allowing water to drain.

We offer several sump pump options tailored to your water exposure:

TripleSafe™: Three-pump system for maximum protection, including battery backup for power outages.
UltraSump®: High-capacity battery backup pump that activates when the main pump fails or power goes out.
SuperSump®: A single-pump system for homes with minor water issues.

VaporLoc Elite: A heavy-duty wall liner that stops moisture and mold while directing water into drainage systems.
SaniDry Sedona & XP: Energy-efficient dehumidifiers that remove up to 109 pints of moisture daily, improving air quality and comfort.

Our SunHouse™ Window Wells and WellDuct® Drains keep your basement bright, dry, and free from debris, while meeting egress codes for safety.

    Earthquake Retrofitting Newport, OR

Newport, Oregon, is located in a region of the Pacific Northwest that’s prone to seismic activity. Homes constructed before the updated building codes of the 1990s may be particularly at risk. Even a small earthquake can lead to your home shifting off its foundation or suffering significant structural damage.

TerraFirma’s earthquake retrofitting services help secure your Newport home to its foundation and strengthen its ability to withstand seismic events.

Retrofitting your home for earthquakes in Newport not only strengthens its safety but can also help lower your insurance premiums and deductibles, potentially qualifying you for coverage that wasn’t available before the upgrade.

    How We Retrofit

    Assessment & Planning

In Newport, OR, the retrofitting process starts with a thorough evaluation of your building’s current condition. A qualified expert, like a structural engineer or a skilled technician, will inspect your home to pinpoint any weaknesses and suggest the best solutions.

Our evaluation involves a thorough inspection of the foundation, walls, roof, and overall structure. Following our assessment, our engineer will create a detailed retrofitting plan tailored to our findings.

    Foundation Bolting

The next step in our process is securing the foundation. Our technicians expertly install anchor bolts to firmly connect your home to its foundation, ensuring stability and preventing any lateral movement during an earthquake.

Our process includes drilling into the foundation and inserting robust steel bolts. We then secure the structure by tightening these bolts, which enhances stability and improves resistance to seismic forces—keeping Newport safe and sound.

    Adding Shear Walls

Shear walls play a vital role in earthquake retrofitting in Newport, OR, helping to evenly distribute seismic forces and protect buildings from potential collapse.

Shear walls are typically made from plywood or other durable materials, installed in key locations throughout your home, especially in the cripple walls. These additions offer extra support and stability, helping to minimize the risk of damage during an earthquake, which is important for residents of Newport, OR.

    Bracing & Reinforcing

Next, we enhance essential areas of your Newport home with sturdy steel braces and straps. Our team carefully installs these reinforcements at key structural points like the roof, walls, and floors. This step significantly boosts your home’s stability, ensuring it has a resilient framework capable of withstanding seismic activity.

    Securing Applicances

By securing your appliances, you can enhance safety in your Newport home. Anchoring essential items like water heaters and refrigerators is crucial. Our technicians will also install protective measures for gas meters to minimize the risk of gas leaks.

    Reparing Foundations

During retrofitting, technicians may notice substantial foundation damage that needs immediate repair. Adding crawl space support posts and foundation piers, and stabilizing the walls are some of the ways TerraFirma can reinforce your foundation.

    NEAR YOU

Ask your neighbors why TerraFirma’s foundation, basement, and crawlspace work is top rated in Central Oregon. From Eugene to Corvallis, Springfield to Bend, and everywhere in between, our work speaks for itself!

I had a sump pump installed and these guys were fantastic from start of project to finish. Mychelle answered all my questions, Andrew and team were punctual, professional and got the job done fast, plus no mess. Thanks guys.
I met with Walt Bateman this week to discuss an issue I have that sounded like TerraFirma was a good place to look for a professional opinion. Walt shared his expertise and extensive knowledge of about 30 years of experience in the Eugene / Springfield area regarding geotechnical and residential construction issues and solutions to foundation and concrete structural issues in our wet environment. We discussed a variety of potential alternatives and he left me a relatively easy and cost effective solution for my project. I was very pleased to meet Walt and happy with his response just one day after contacting TerraFirma. I highly recommend Walt as an honest straight shooting guy and happy to get his opinion for my project. Thanks to Walt and TerraFirma, Steve Z, Springfield, OR.
Our experience with TerraFirma was excellent... contacts via phone, TXT and email kept us appraised of each step. Partick Dunn was quick to visit our site and bid the job in several sections for us to consider. Hillary Mills worked to conveniently schedule us to benefit their schedule and ours. Lastly, Schylar Powers spent a day and a half conscientiously explaining each step in the process... and doing a fine job. We're very pleased.
Great work from James and his crew! Thanks to Morgan, David and Hilary for the additional assistance. These folks went above and beyond also fixing a lock on a sliding glass door as well as installing 20 piers and 4 smart jacks for the residence. Very thorough evaluation initially from Morgan which is why I chose TF over their main rivals who just breezed through the place in 30 mins or so. Morgan spent nearly 2 hours after taking measurements and showing me detailed videos about the bedrock and clay deposits under all these houses in W. Eugene. House feels solid now! These work crews they have make rapid progress and stick to their time estimate which frankly seemed doubtful at the end of day 2 of 6. But sure enough they were all tidied up and done by mid day of day 6, just amazing!
Very good experience from day 1. They ended up not needing one of the permits or a window brace like originally planned, of which both items were credited back to me. The installation crew was professional, efficient, and more than tolerant explaining all the little details of what they were doing while I watched the process. I really like that they live streamed their engineers the entire time for QC, and even had a third party review inspection. I chose TerraFirma over 3 other companies for the warranty terms and for them being a long established Oregon local business, and I am very happy with their work and crew. I hope to not have any future structural repairs done but if I do, I will 1000% hire them again. Thanks!
Friendly, professional and efficient. Very satisfactory experience. Would definitely recommend to everyone.
We had Jason back this year for another service. He is the best guy super informative can’t wait to have him back next year. We have had our pump system for a little over a year now, the winter before we had up to over 1 ft of water under our house, this last winter nothing it was bone dry. I can’t say enough good about your company. We just had Jason out to do the first service on it and what a guy, he showed me how to check a couple things on the up coming season. We will definitely have Jason back next year to do our service again that guy is an asset to your company! Thank you Satisfied Customer
Skylar was wonderful to work with. Was very professional and did a great job with raising our concrete pad.,
Had TF raise the cement front porch of our house. The entire process, first contact, through the bid, through the job, through the billing, went smoothly. Their price was very competitive.
Had Walt come out to Corvallis to assess our concrete slab foundation and he was very knowledgeable of everything he observed surrounding the home's foundation. He took time to understand our concerns and provided us with his solution to our problem. We ended up having a structural engineer come out to asses our home and get his recommendation on if the work was needed. Although we ended up not needing to have the work done, the structural engineer said that Walt's estimate on the work needed to fix the problem was correct and if our house truly needed it, then he would have recommended the exact same work be done. In the future, if we have any other concrete/foundation projects around the property, we will definitely be calling Walt again.
