What Homeowners in Bend Should Know Before choosing vuba Stone

Why More Bend Homeowners Are Looking Beyond Plain Concrete

Concrete is built to last, but years of exposure to Bend’s changing seasons can leave outdoor surfaces looking worn and outdated. Freeze and thaw cycles, daily foot traffic, UV exposure, and moisture can all take a toll on patios, walkways, driveways, and steps, causing them to lose both their appearance and durability.

Many Bend homeowners are looking beyond plain concrete because aging patios, cracked decorative concrete, stained driveways, and faded finishes can reduce curb appeal and make outdoor spaces feel neglected. Instead of settling for dull or damaged surfaces, homeowners are choosing decorative resurfacing options that restore the look of existing concrete while creating a more attractive, modern finish that complements the natural beauty of Central Oregon.

VUBA STONE SURFACING

What Makes Vuba Stone Different From Traditional Concrete Finishes?

Vuba Stone is not just another coating placed on top of concrete. It is a resin-bound stone system designed to create a more decorative, durable, and functional outdoor surface for patios, walkways, steps, and driveways.

01

Resin-Bound Stone

Natural stone is mixed with a strong resin binder, creating a textured surface that feels more premium than standard paint, stain, or thin concrete coatings.

02

Better Drainage

The open stone structure allows water to move through the surface, helping reduce standing water and making the space more practical for outdoor use.

03

Flexible Surface

Unlike rigid surface finishes, Vuba Stone has a level of flexibility that helps it perform better through normal outdoor temperature changes.

04

Natural Appearance

Instead of covering concrete with a flat color, Vuba Stone adds depth, texture, and a natural stone look that can improve curb appeal.

05

UV Resistance

Vuba Stone is designed to hold its appearance outdoors, helping the surface resist fading and wear caused by sun exposure.

BEFORE YOU RESURFACE

When Vuba Stone Is a Good Choice and When It Isn’t

Vuba Stone can be a great way to refresh outdoor concrete, but the existing surface needs to be in the right condition first.

Good Fit

Vuba Stone May Be a Good Choice If…

  • Your existing concrete is stable

The slab is not sinking, shifting, or showing signs of major movement.

  • The surface only looks worn

Fading, staining, or surface wear can often be improved with a decorative resurfacing option.

  • You want better curb appeal

Vuba Stone can add texture, color, and a natural stone look without replacing the entire slab.

Not the Best Fit

Vuba Stone May Not Be Right If…

  • There is major settling

If the concrete is uneven or sinking, it may need repair or leveling before resurfacing.

  • There are structural cracks

Large cracks can point to deeper movement that should be evaluated before adding a new surface.

  • Tree roots are damaging the slab

Root pressure can continue moving the concrete, even after a new finish is installed.

FINISHED SURFACE EXPERIENCE

What Does a Finished Vuba Stone Surface Actually Feel Like?

A finished Vuba Stone surface has a textured, natural stone feel that looks decorative while still being practical for outdoor areas. It is designed to feel more refined than plain concrete, without creating a surface that feels overly rough or uncomfortable.

01

Textured, Not Flat

Vuba Stone creates a natural stone texture instead of a smooth concrete finish. This gives patios, walkways, steps, and driveways more visual depth.

02

Improved Slip Resistance

The stone texture can help provide better traction than some smooth or sealed concrete surfaces, especially in outdoor areas where water may be present.

03

Simple Maintenance

A finished Vuba Stone surface is designed to be easier to clean than worn or stained concrete. Regular sweeping and occasional rinsing can help keep it looking fresh.

04

Comfortable Outdoor Use

The surface feels solid underfoot while still offering a decorative, finished look that works well for outdoor living spaces, entries, and high-traffic areas.

BEFORE RESURFACING

Common Mistakes Homeowners Make Before Resurfacing

Resurfacing can improve the appearance and function of outdoor concrete, but the condition of the existing slab matters. Before choosing a decorative surface like Vuba Stone, homeowners should understand what can affect long-term performance.

01

Installing Over Unstable Concrete

If the concrete is sinking, shifting, or badly cracked, resurfacing alone may not solve the underlying issue.

02

Ignoring Drainage Problems

Water that collects around patios, walkways, or driveways can affect both the concrete and the finished surface over time.

03

Choosing Color Only From Photos

Lighting, surrounding materials, and home style can change how a stone color looks once installed outdoors.

04

Hiring Installers Without Resin Experience

Resin-bound stone systems require proper preparation, mixing, and application to create a clean, lasting finish.

COMPARE YOUR OPTIONS

Vuba Stone vs Concrete Replacement: Which Makes More Sense?

Vuba Stone and full concrete replacement solve different problems. If the concrete is stable but looks worn, resurfacing may be a better option. If the slab has major structural damage, replacement or repair may be needed first.

Question Vuba Stone Replace Concrete
Installation Time Faster Longer
Cost Usually lower Higher
Existing Slab Reused Removed
Appearance Decorative Standard
Structural Repair No Yes
Simple takeaway:

Vuba Stone can make sense when the concrete mainly needs a better surface. Replacement makes more sense when the slab itself is failing.

From Roseburg to Eugene, Portland to Seattle, our Concrete Repair work speaks for itself

We had Terra Firma repair some spalled concrete and cracks in our basement. The price was bit more importantly their staff were polite, professional, and showed up exactly when they said they would.
Had a very good experience with TerraFirma. Got three bids, theirs was best by far, detailed, many pictures, explained exactly what work was to be done, a few options available on additional work. Work consisted of leveling three concrete walkway pads, each about 7'x4' with some complications due to a broken block. Communication by email or phone was quickly answered by the project manager, Sammy. Work day was scheduled well in advance, with a reminder sent a few days before. Exact arrival time was provided and they arrived on time. Excellent work team, two employees, Ken, foreman, and Zack, did the work exactly as laid out during the bid interview, took no longer than was expected. They were easy to talk to and were intent on ensuring we were happy with the results. Thanks for the good work and good experience. Excellent example of real service, good people.
Professional Thoughtful, Communicative. My wife and I are so glad that we choose to get our foundation fixed with Terra Frima. The salesman Boston was willing to come to our house multiple times and explain what the cracks, separating and sagging floors and multiple slope points meant and how it could affect our home. He gave several different quotes and ideas whether it was to protect our foundation in place, attempt to lift it back into place and how to support our sagging floors. He also helped us triage our three main problems which included the cause which was the water under and surrounding our foundation. After addressing this through installing an extensive waterproofing system within our basement we then installed bracketed piers in order to hold our foundation in place and prevent any further settling. My favorite part of the whole process was interacting with Jake and his crew who actually installed everything.  He did a walkthrough with me explaining every aspect of work they were planning on doing. He patiently answered all of my questions even when they were repetitive. He was also very courteous about our home and property and went the extra mile in order to be as minimally invasive into our garden as possible to install the piers and the sump pump drainage system. He also called and communicated with me when I had concerns or when he wanted to communicate solutions to potential problems. He was clearly experienced with this kind of work and even noticed that my garage foundation was settling and recommended a specific product that could fix the issue cost effectively. He and the very kind Project Manager Bree both advocated for me to receive a great price for the additional work and Bree even organized Jake's crew to come back right away and finish the garage work. When all the work was finished Jake's crew cleaned up and reconcreted very nicely and conducted a closing walkthrough again being patient while fielding all of my wife and my numerous questions. Bree then helped me figure out how to finish out the process and at the end of the day my wife and I felt so lucky that we got to do business with Terra Firma and these individuals.
Professional work with any type of outdoor leveling, strengthening, walkway reconstruction or similar concrete work. Interesting to work with the estimator person(s) for ideas and project details. Highly recommended.
When we first bought our 1900s fixer upper, we had no idea what lurked behind the walls of the illegal basement apartment. Once we opened up the space we were in for quite the surprise. All the wooden post holding up the main beam of the house were rotted through at the base. You could stick a pencil through the old, soft wood. Working with TerraFirma to fix the issue was an easy choice. Eric came out to assess our problem. He was friendly and professional as he walked me through the process that was needed to fix our foundation. It wasn't going to be cheap. Don't expect this kind of work to be inexpensive (especially on older homes). We needed concrete to be cut, 2ft cubic footers poured, and six shiny new steel posts. (And while they were coming out anyway, we had them do seismic retrofitting too). There's all kinds of math and engineering that goes into determining what's needed to structurally support a home. TerraFirma handles it all. And they are experienced enough to know what it's going to cost. One of the best parts of working with them (besides the friendly employees and professional workers) is that the price they quote you is going to be the price. Full stop. There are no unexpected add ons at the end. I can sleep well at night knowing TerraFirma's work is holding up our home. A few months later when the rains started in earnest and our basement flooded (an issue we guessed had been going on for a while, hidden by those illegal apartment walls and leading to the rotting of the old wood posts) we knew who to call. Eric came out again to look at options for a sump pump system and even worked on adjusting those plans (while he was on winter vacation with his family!!) when we discovered that a third wall was seeping water and we needed a much larger amount of fixing than originally thought. We no longer have to worry during downpours. While our old fixer upper still needs a lot of work and love, we know that we are (literally) starting from a strong, solid foundation thanks to TerraFirma.
Superb service! Excellent work. We asked them to lift (if possible), support and seal our driveway to stop some puddling, along with placing a new walkway to our front door. The concrete work was very nice, beyond complaint. The driveway was a question mark to start with, but they did well. Upon leaving, they invited us to call if we needed more adjustment. We did, and found them to be immediately responsive and very pleasant. Upon leaving again, they repeated their invitation to call again. All personel overall were very pleasant and responsive. (I am not financially or personally affiliated with Terra Firma in any way!)
Terra Firma seismically reinforced my home to resist earthquake forces that could cause its wood frame to slide off its concrete foundation. Within about 5 hours, a Terra Firma crew of three bolted steel plates to the perimeter of my home, connected the perimeter stud walls to the concrete foundation walls. The installation was performed professionally, primarily on the exterior, with only only 6 of the 37 plates installed in an interior space where the of the foundation wall was several feet below grade, making exterior installation difficult, if not impossible. Terra Firma's plumber also installed a vibration activated gas supply shut off valve to my gas meter. I'm very pleased with the work and am hopeful that my home will remain habitable after an earthquake.
Very professional organization. It was from the estimate process to completion. If anyone has a concrete leveling project I recommend this company 100%.
Our basement waterproofing job was completed on schedule the crew was professional and easy to work with. When we have other foundation or concrete work to be done TerraFirma will be our first choice. Jonah was a good coordinator and everything went smoothly,
Zackery N. did a fabulous job for us. Especially impressive was his ability to predict how a badly cracked large concrete slab would behave during the jacking process and thereby avoided breaking it further. Beautiful job leveling throughout and filling the cracks and joints on 30 year old concrete driveway and large patios. Upon arrival, Zack reviewed the project with me and walked me through his execution plan, patiently answering all my questions. It was a 2-day project and Zack provided a status update after the first day, with an update on planned activities upon arrival on day 2. Thank you for a job well done!
The work was done in two days. The problems with the very heavy concrete problems was addressed, and it does look much better which is appreciated. Jeramie was good, worked so hard. Jason did the review before it all started, very easy to work with. It does look much better, it was worth the expensive costs. Thank you!
The crew were on time, introduced themselves and made sure that we were all on the same page as far as what they were doing. Lifted the back patio up and leveled the sidewalk to martch. Looks great! Did a good job of cleaning up. I would reccomend them for any type of concrete lifting. Thanks guys!
