What Homeowners in Bend Should Know Before choosing vuba Stone

Why More Bend Homeowners Are Looking Beyond Plain Concrete

Concrete is built to last, but years of exposure to Bend’s changing seasons can leave outdoor surfaces looking worn and outdated. Freeze and thaw cycles, daily foot traffic, UV exposure, and moisture can all take a toll on patios, walkways, driveways, and steps, causing them to lose both their appearance and durability.

Many Bend homeowners are looking beyond plain concrete because aging patios, cracked decorative concrete, stained driveways, and faded finishes can reduce curb appeal and make outdoor spaces feel neglected. Instead of settling for dull or damaged surfaces, homeowners are choosing decorative resurfacing options that restore the look of existing concrete while creating a more attractive, modern finish that complements the natural beauty of Central Oregon.

VUBA STONE SURFACING

What Makes Vuba Stone Different From Traditional Concrete Finishes?

Vuba Stone is not just another coating placed on top of concrete. It is a resin-bound stone system designed to create a more decorative, durable, and functional outdoor surface for patios, walkways, steps, and driveways.

01

Resin-Bound Stone

Natural stone is mixed with a strong resin binder, creating a textured surface that feels more premium than standard paint, stain, or thin concrete coatings.

02

Better Drainage

The open stone structure allows water to move through the surface, helping reduce standing water and making the space more practical for outdoor use.

03

Flexible Surface

Unlike rigid surface finishes, Vuba Stone has a level of flexibility that helps it perform better through normal outdoor temperature changes.

04

Natural Appearance

Instead of covering concrete with a flat color, Vuba Stone adds depth, texture, and a natural stone look that can improve curb appeal.

05

UV Resistance

Vuba Stone is designed to hold its appearance outdoors, helping the surface resist fading and wear caused by sun exposure.

BEFORE YOU RESURFACE

When Vuba Stone Is a Good Choice and When It Isn’t

Vuba Stone can be a great way to refresh outdoor concrete, but the existing surface needs to be in the right condition first.

Good Fit

Vuba Stone May Be a Good Choice If…

  • Your existing concrete is stable
The slab is not sinking, shifting, or showing signs of major movement.
  • The surface only looks worn
Fading, staining, or surface wear can often be improved with a decorative resurfacing option.
  • You want better curb appeal
Vuba Stone can add texture, color, and a natural stone look without replacing the entire slab.

Not the Best Fit

Vuba Stone May Not Be Right If…

  • There is major settling
If the concrete is uneven or sinking, it may need repair or leveling before resurfacing.
  • There are structural cracks
Large cracks can point to deeper movement that should be evaluated before adding a new surface.
  • Tree roots are damaging the slab
Root pressure can continue moving the concrete, even after a new finish is installed.

FINISHED SURFACE EXPERIENCE

What Does a Finished Vuba Stone Surface Actually Feel Like?

A finished Vuba Stone surface has a textured, natural stone feel that looks decorative while still being practical for outdoor areas. It is designed to feel more refined than plain concrete, without creating a surface that feels overly rough or uncomfortable.

01

Textured, Not Flat

Vuba Stone creates a natural stone texture instead of a smooth concrete finish. This gives patios, walkways, steps, and driveways more visual depth.

02

Improved Slip Resistance

The stone texture can help provide better traction than some smooth or sealed concrete surfaces, especially in outdoor areas where water may be present.

03

Simple Maintenance

A finished Vuba Stone surface is designed to be easier to clean than worn or stained concrete. Regular sweeping and occasional rinsing can help keep it looking fresh.

04

Comfortable Outdoor Use

The surface feels solid underfoot while still offering a decorative, finished look that works well for outdoor living spaces, entries, and high-traffic areas.

BEFORE RESURFACING

Common Mistakes Homeowners Make Before Resurfacing

Resurfacing can improve the appearance and function of outdoor concrete, but the condition of the existing slab matters. Before choosing a decorative surface like Vuba Stone, homeowners should understand what can affect long-term performance.

01

Installing Over Unstable Concrete

If the concrete is sinking, shifting, or badly cracked, resurfacing alone may not solve the underlying issue.

02

Ignoring Drainage Problems

Water that collects around patios, walkways, or driveways can affect both the concrete and the finished surface over time.

03

Choosing Color Only From Photos

Lighting, surrounding materials, and home style can change how a stone color looks once installed outdoors.

04

Hiring Installers Without Resin Experience

Resin-bound stone systems require proper preparation, mixing, and application to create a clean, lasting finish.

Vuba Stone vs Concrete Replacement: Which Makes More Sense?

Vuba Stone and full concrete replacement solve different problems. If the concrete is stable but looks worn, resurfacing may be a better option. If the slab has major structural damage, replacement or repair may be needed first.

Simple takeaway: Vuba Stone can make sense when the concrete mainly needs a better surface. Replacement makes more sense when the slab itself is failing.

From Roseburg to Eugene, Portland to Seattle, our Concrete Repair work speaks for itself

Technicians answered my questions and explained the process of expanding foam to my satisfaction. They were courteous and on time. The process was less invasive than I expected it to be. This is not a cheap fix, but wanted to have it done only once and not worry about it down the road.
So I had Jorge as a Forman with Juan, Manuel, Kevin, Zach, and Daniel. First off, Jorge did an excellent job of communicating the process, explaining materials he was using, and setting up the sump online system with my wife (it was the first time he'd installed this particular sump, so the set up was new to him as well). Secondly, When he was done, even though it was Friday night and I know he wanted to get back home, he chatted with my wife and I and was very pleasant and positive. I believe he said he's been there for four years and also said it was a great company to work for. I also work in the construction industry and was generally curious about the company. I could tell he was sincere. Lastly, To say they worked hard was an extreme understatement; they had to haul in by hand 5 gallon buckets of concrete and haul out all the jackhammering they did to get the foundation flood protection as well as the sump set. No standing around. No cell phone use. Just solid work. Jorge's crew was friendly enough, but they were no-nonsense and left the up front communication to him. The cost wasn't cheap, but we went with Terra Firma strictly on reputation. We live about 75 miles out of PDX, and to get the job done, they sent out an additional crew for a crucial piece of the work. I would say, despite the cost (and it's not like they were ripping me off, it was just a costly project), I got my money's worth based on what I saw from the labor intensity. I really can't believe how much they did in such little time. They said "one day", and by God they made it happen. They had to hammer out approximately a 75' long, 8" wide by 10" deep trench along the inner concrete foundation of my house, hammer out and install a sump, then core out, install and set a discharge conduit about 12 feet outside of my house. Not a small task for a day's work. My only nitpick would be there was a small amount of dust left over from the work, despite the very elaborate taping and containment plastic they used (which was a LOT). They did great of taping everything and covering floors, etc. I was concerned about silica, and Jorge told me they would use a vacuum shroud for the hammering process, which I assume was done, but was not at home for that phase of the process. My wife has asthma, so dust is our nemesis! This is one of those projects that you hope you don't have to use (flood prevention), but a small part of me wants to have water trickle in to see the efficacy of the work. Time will tell! Until then, thank you Jorge and crew for kicking some ass, and getting a good tackle on our flood prevention!
6/25/2024 Seeing I did a review 2 months ago.. I am unable to make a new one- here is the update for the work we did! 6/21-6/24/2024 Work started and completed by TerraFirma! We do not even know what to say, THANK YOU WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH, You all went Way above and beyond expectations. I added pictures. To the Friday crew, to install a piering system, Jake, Aden, Steven (sorry if I spelled it wrong) what can we say, from start to finish this team was a well oiled machine, worked really really well together, put up with my husband Mark and I and all our questions and chit chat. The time that was taken to ensure EVERYTHING was going right, was explained and to ensure the safety of our home was just awesome. We had a lot of fun with these guys in conversation and jokes. When all the work was done, you could not even tell anyone was at the house working all day. These 3 great guys were some of the most fun and charismatic group we have had at the house in years. 🙂 Last but not least.... Jake you are a wonderful teacher to the crew, you have great leadership and a pretty awesome work ethic. Monday with Robert for the leveling of the driveway, walkway and stairs to front door. Working for TerraFirma for 2.5 years, Robert showed much skill and patience, as he worked alone and took his time to ensure that the proper amounts of polyfill was being pushed into all the tiny little holes he drilled all over the place. A tedious process and Robert defiantly has the patience for this part. I asked lots of questions and was pleased with all the knowledge. Again, a crew member that went above and beyond to ensure that what we expected was completed. Robert's ability to close the gaps, level a drive way that had repairs 2 times prior and failed and seeing the garage door with no gapping really blew our minds! We truly could not be happier with the outcome. Towards the end of the day, Jon, a field Supervisor came by to help with the concrete work to fill in the pier holes in the garage. Jon was just the nicest and in the short amount of time he was at our home helping, he was knowledgeable and we had great conversation while he helped with the perfect concreate work! Looks good Jon, Thank you! My family and I would like to say, the longest part was waiting for permits once the work started, it went quick, it was done RIGHT, we are truly 100% satisfied with the outcome. Hands down will recommend TerraFirma to anyone that we know needs this kind of work done on their home. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! ****************************************************************** original post: My family and I are just getting started and can not wait to see what the end results are. For now I am rating what I KNOW with 5 stars and wish I could give more. If the work, the work ethic, the understanding and the compassion towards customers follows through this entire project the way it has just begun, I will tell you, I will brag on this company all day long!! I came across TerraFirma at the Tacoma Trade show March 2024. I spoke with both Samuel and Tulane regarding the issues at our home in South Hill Puyallup. I filled out a form, was contacted later the following week to schedule a FREE Estimate and had Samuel come to our home. Thinking we would just show him a couple things and Sam would be in and out in 30 mins, my husband and I were almost confused and very IMPRESSED with the 2.5 hour inspection, overview, breakdown of cost and mapping per say of the work area for our home. We found out and were educated on the scale of " oh S**t that is going on and that there was more to our project than a sinking driveway. Sam was beyond respectable and patient 😉 especially when listening to my concerns and questions on the what is next... and the cost of the what's next. We have now put down our deposit for work to be completed, due to permits that are needed, work can be up to 4 months out now, so Pierce county, please hurry... 😉 From our family to TerraFirma.... we look forward to working with you all soon.
I had a narrow but long concrete path that had heaved over the years and was cracked in a couple of places. Terra Firm leveled it perfectly and filled the cracks and gaps beautifully. Now I have a level path that I plan to expand with pavers on both sides. Huge cost savings, as my other option was to rip out the concrete and do a total reboot. Great people and a fair price for the work done. They were all done in one day and came back promptly to redo one gap between pads that wasn't just perfect. I highly recommend the Terra Firma experience. Bryna and Ken were a pleasure to work with.
Professional work with any type of outdoor leveling, strengthening, walkway reconstruction or similar concrete work. Interesting to work with the estimator person(s) for ideas and project details. Highly recommended.
The customer service really can't be beat. And the product (raising/leveling of front walkway) went very well
The 2 men that were here were exceptional, very professional in their work detail and answered all my concerns. The finish product was awesome. Highly recommend this product. Thanks to everyone that helped with my concrete repairs. Thanks again Greg
Had a very good experience with TerraFirma. Got three bids, theirs was best by far, detailed, many pictures, explained exactly what work was to be done, a few options available on additional work. Work consisted of leveling three concrete walkway pads, each about 7'x4' with some complications due to a broken block. Communication by email or phone was quickly answered by the project manager, Sammy. Work day was scheduled well in advance, with a reminder sent a few days before. Exact arrival time was provided and they arrived on time. Excellent work team, two employees, Ken, foreman, and Zack, did the work exactly as laid out during the bid interview, took no longer than was expected. They were easy to talk to and were intent on ensuring we were happy with the results. Thanks for the good work and good experience. Excellent example of real service, good people.
I could not be more impressed with how informative, respectful, and honest Bailey was with my parents. He took a very stressful and emotional time, and eased their fears and took the time to really explain and educate them on the best option for their property. I am so grateful!
On November 13, 14 and 20th, 2017, it was our pleasure to have Terrafirma work crew at our home in Medford, Oregon. We were appre-hensive after one bad general contractor experience which left us with one end of our home requiring foundation stabilization and a concrete 15 step curved front entry needing both stabilization and filling work to be done. It took but a short time to come to the realization that we had made the right decision. They were on time, fully equipped and exceedingly professional. They functioned as a finely oiled machine. Each member was part of the team and each seemed to know his job almost without verbal communication It was a sight to behold, not only the quiet efficiency but the willingness to answer all questions without hesitation and to do whatever was needed or required to make us feel that in their minds we were the most important people there. That impression was exhibited by every workman on site. Their work was finished on time and as far as we can see with excellent results. We cannot recommend Terrafirma STRONGLY ENOUGH. This extends to their office administration, Amber Gausnel of Customer Development; Rob Philby, Sales Representative; Wes Johnson, On-site Foreman/Supervisor; his crewmen, Robert, Jason and Mason; and James Cross, Polylevel Supervisor. TO ALL OF THEM WE THANK YOU EXCEEDINGLY!!!
We had a concrete driveway that was sinking on one side, large chunks of the pavement were completely detached. TerraFirma was quick to schedule an estimate. The estimate was thorough and a fair price. They were flexible with scheduling for the job itself. They arrived at the scheduled time, did an awesome job of cleaning the cracks, leveling everything, and sealing the cracks. The material to seal the cracks needed to be avoided by our dog for half a day to be safe just to prevent her nails from digging into it while it finished curing, but otherwise we were able to immediately walk on the driveway. It looks fantastic. If you're looking to give your exterior a visual improvement as well as prevent erosion of your driveway/foundation, this is such a great solution. The warranty is great too. Well worth the price. We feel comfortable moving on to additional projects that the driveway impacts, knowing it is sturdy.
Skylar and Johnny were at my place two days lifting concrete. They did an excellent job. Very professional, answered my questions, and left everything looking very good and neat. I would highly recommend them
